Brezel / Semantics & context

Data becomes useful
when context makes sense.

A number alone says little. Add the customer, site, contract and responsible person, and it becomes a basis for the next task. Semantics is about that context.

What does semantics mean for a business?

Semantics concerns the meaning of information and the relationships between items. A “date” could mean a customer meeting, a delivery commitment or a contract expiry. AI needs that distinction in the working context to prepare useful results.

Brezel connects business data with roles, cases and rules. This is not a claim that AI understands your business perfectly. Data quality, clear terminology and professional review remain essential.

This diagram explains the relationship. It is not a live view or a commitment to future features.

02 /

From isolated files to relationships.

A customer has several sites. A site is linked to a contract. Invoices and planned projects add context. These connections help bring the right documents and people together for a task.

Relationships are represented through data structures, configured modules and assignments. Existing software needs suitable connections. Automatic, complete understanding of arbitrary external systems is not promised.

03 /

Structured data and semantic retrieval.

Structured data answers precise questions, such as which contract belongs to which site. Semantic retrieval helps find relevant text even when a question uses different wording from the document.

In a RAG architecture, relevant content is retrieved and supplied to a language model as context. This differs from training the underlying model on company data. Retrieved material must fit the user’s permissions and task.

04 /

Example: a contract expiry gains context.

An expiry date on its own is a reminder. Combined with usage data and a planned expansion, it can prompt a useful question: do the scope and terms still match the need?

Brezel can bring approved information together for that review. An external adviser receives it only under an appropriate customer authorisation. This illustrates context, not an automatic purchasing decision or guaranteed saving.

05 /

Understanding context does not grant access.

Two items being related does not mean they may be accessed together. HR data stays within its authorised scope even if it might appear useful for another task.

Permissions and confidentiality must therefore apply to retrieval and assembled model context. More current search indexes and explicit answer-source references are development topics.
